Jan. 17, 2012: What a great group today with several that we had not seen in a long time. Welcome back! Sorry to hear from Edith Nash that she had to place Robert in Golden Living Briarwood on LaVista Road and does not know how long he will be there. Please keep them in your prayers. Also please remember Joan Thornton, Jean Donohoe and George Bowen who are also having serious physical problems.

Members signed up today to host various luncheons in 2012. Kay Fulmer will handle February 21 luncheon which will probably be in the Suwannee area. She will let us know soon. View 2012 Golden Girl Calendar. We still need hosts for July, October and November.

On December 13, 2011 Frances Bowen will again be hosting our Christmas luncheon at Cafe Elan at Chateau Elan at 12 noon. This is the restaurant in the Winery. We have been there several times. Take Exit 126 from I-85.

As we have done for the past several years, we shall be exchanging gifts. Please bring a wrapped gift -- value not to exceed $10.

Many thanks to Berna Spencer for handling the November luncheon. The German food was great and the fellowship even better. Attending were Berna, Mabel Wallace, Nell Foster, Bettye Chambers, Agnes Nelson, Frances Bowen, George Bowen, Martha McCullough. So glad to see Agnes Nelson progressing nicely following her hip replacement surgery.

We can go to Houndstooth Grill & Tavern at 6326 Grand Hickory Dr., Braselton for our September lunch. It's only 2 miles from my house, and I would love for everyone to come here after lunch for dessert.

There is not a good web site for Houndstooth, and the one lunch menu I found was only a partial list of their lunch offerings. I picked up a lunch menu today, and will mail it to you. You may want to use it, or not. I tried scanning it, but couldn't get it clear enough to read.

Directions are easy: From Atlanta: Go north on I-85 and
take exit 126, the Chateau Elan exit. After you exit, turn left
onto Hwy. 211. Drive to the second stop light ( that will be about 2 miles), and turn right onto *Grand Hickory Dr., where you will see a Mulberry Park sign in the median. As soon as you turn onto Grand Hickory Dr., prepare to turn right into a "strip mall". When you turn, you will be facing Houndstooth
Grill & Tavern. The building isn't grand, but the food is very good.

*There is Thompson Mill Rd. sign beside the Grand Hickory

The Golden Girls had a great group on February 15, 2011, at the Old Hickory House in Tucker. Attending were Mabel Wallace, Nell Foster, George and Frances Bowen, Kay Fulmer, Berna Spencer, Jane Richardson, Martha McCullough, Roberta Middlebrooks, Sue Moore and Bettye Chambers.

Also attending were Nell's four children -- Claudia, Cindy, Chad and Chris -- and several grandchildren. There were 18 altogether! Everyone seemed to have a great time with lots of talk.
